Dominic Carter

Dominic Carter’s Career

Veteran newsman Dominic Carter has been considered as one of the finest political reporters in New York Television today, and has been an essential person in the industry for the past 25 years. Currently, Dominic works at Verizon FiOS TV where he covered the 2016 Presidential election. His interview with President-elect Donald Trump in 2008, where Trump praised Hillary Clinton, resurfaced during the final weeks of the campaign. He previously worked at RNN-TV. He also released a book on his life, No Momma’s Boy, in which he accounts his triumphant struggle to prosper while living in a Bronx Housing Project during his childhood. Dominic has moderated debates with Hillary Clinton and Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Recently, he was reporting on the whirlwind that was the 2016 Presidential Election and continues to voice political news.

He has also appeared on Face the Nation, Hardball with Chris Matthews, CNN, and the Fox News Channel. Among his numerous exclusive interviews, they include former President Bill Clinton, Caroline Kennedy, and even Nelson Mandela during Mandela’s historic visit to the United States. Dominic has also reported from abroad including Japan, Israel, Somalia, and he has spent time in the Persian Gulf. Dominic has appeared on the cover of The New York Times TV Guide, which called the veteran journalist “a force to be reckoned with.” He is also part of the annual “Inner Circle,” a charity of NY Political Reporters as well as a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild.

Dominic Carter started his career at the State University of New York College at Cortland in the Communications and Media Studies program. From there he attended Syracuse for his Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism. He originally started in radio in 1986 at WLIB/WLBS and then moved to TV six years later. On WLIB/WLBS he reported from 5am – 1pm in the field. He covered many topics including Howard Beach, Bernard Goetz, and also traveled the country on the political campaign of Rev. Jesse Jackson. In addition, Dominic received and honorary Ph.D. from the City University of New York.

One of Dominic’s most recent accomplishments is appearing on Wendy Williams. Instead of conversing about his usual politics issues, he was able to debate over pop culture with fellow guests. That’s not to say his passion for speaking politically hasn’t changed. Dominic Carter also made a radio station appearance on AM 970, in the New York Tri-State area to discuss his prediction for Bloomberg in the elections.

Dominic’s political predictions have a pretty good track record. Dominic Carter predicted Bloomberg as a Republican would win the NYC race for Mayor in overwhelming Blue New York as a political novice when few gave him any chance at all. If your confused about his political affiliation Bloomberg has always been a Democrat at heart, but switched parties because it was easier for him to get elected Mayor running as a Republican.

Dominic Carter also predicted President Trump would win the Presidency just days after announcing his candidacy. At that time, the Republican field was crowded with 16 candidates. But Dominic could see Trump resonating with voters in ways that no other candidate would, especially Hillary Clinton.

Dominic Carter’s Personal Life

Dominic resides in New York with his wife, Marilyn Carter and has a son, Dominic Jr. and a daughter, Courtney, who is following in her father’s foot steps and has made her debut as a broadcast news reporter. He is dedicated to helping young people and thinks that people don’t do enough for them. They are the future, and he is dedicated to helping them achieve success and realize their worth.

As a young boy growing up in the Bronx, Dominic Carter was involved with the Police Athletic League, and today is proud to call himself a PAL kid. He speaks all throughout the country, and in his spare time from Idaho, to Mississippi, he often addresses youth groups about the importance of education and achievement. Dominic has received the Samuel P. Peabody Award from the Citizens’ Committee for Children, for his vision, innovation and dedication to children and families. No Momma’s Boy, his memoir, was released to critical acclaim. Newsday said, “No TV anchor has ever produced a memoir as grippingly honest as this.” He currently lives in New York.
