Michael Bloomberg is raising eyebrows with a recent radio interview in which he said he’d probably sell his namesake company if he ran for the presidency in 2020.

The New York City mayor tuned news executive turned potential presidential contender told Radio Iowa last Tuesday about the possible move, adding, “quite honestly, I don’t want all the reporters I’m paying to write a bad story about me.”

According to Buzzfeed News, Bloomberg’s remarks “caused paranoia,” especially among political reporters within his media operation, although CNBC noted he would likely wait on selling until the moment when (and if) he became elected.
